The Breakfast Club is an organisation that focuses on raising awareness and funds to provide breakfast at African schools for young children aged between 3 and 10 years of age every day. Their aim is to reduce hunger and poverty.
At the ISG, a group of students has volunteered to organise a number of fundraising events. At these events, awareness should also be raised.
As of right now, the group has come up with a number of different activities including:
1) Movie night for the MYP students
2) Yard sale at the ISG
3) An end of the year concert (end of school year 2018/2019)

BUY A TULIP, HELP A GIRL
The Tibetan Lama, Geshe Pema Dorjee is running a project to build a school for poor and orphaned girls in Lumla in Arunachal Pradesh, a restricted Himalayan area in North-East India, bordering Bhutan and China (Tibet).
A group of our students are involved in a project to raise awareness of this great cause and to assist in any way that they can.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
This year, we all celebrated the International Women’s Day on the 22nd of February, 2018. The organizing group consisted of Ms. Rogers mentoring us, Salima (as our ‘leader’), Matthias, both Laura’s, Suze Lynn, Leonie, Sofia, Tina, Wendy, Hifa, Sasja, Eva and Nina.
There was a lot of preparation done for this event. The final event was on the 22nd of February. We held a Silent Auction for the International Women’s Day celebration. A few people from the group managed to get sponsors who donated products to the cause that we could use in the auction. Many people, to everyone’s surprise, bid on many things, which was incredible! There was a wonderful speaker to come along from the organization called “Beauty in Every Life”. This is a company the speaker founded herself, standing up for female rights and giving young girls a chance in living a good life. She spoke emotionally about sex trafficking, female rights and much more. Also, we had Mijs, Fea, Joyce, Judith, and Kathe sing at the Silent Auction event. They sang beautifully and gave the evening a great atmosphere.
On Friday the 23rd of February, there was another arranged event called “Over de Streep”. This is when people stand on a line and get asked questions. If they agree with it, they step forward, and if they disagree, they step back. This was successful too and there was a good debate afterward.
Overall, it was all an amazing experience and the event was also successful. The group can be proud of ourselves as, to everyone’s surprise, they earned over in between €500-€600 which was the end goal! This was amazing news. The actual International Women’s Day celebration is on the 8th of March which was also a wonderful day to keep the celebration going.
